Written by Glenn Letham (GISuser editor)

Published last year by ESRI Press (edited by Karen Kemp) , this unique collection provides the reader/listener with an opportunity to attend the University of Redlands in a virtual environment. This set of CDs captures a small part of an extraordinary educational opportunity provided weekly to Master of Science in Geographic Information Systems (MS GIS) students at the University of Redlands and the staff of ESRI Redlands.

Each Wednesday throughout the year, a visiting scholar or professional or an ESRI staff member is invited to present a one-hour talk on any GIS-related topic. The colloquium series provides students with essential exposure to both research and professional frontiers in the field. Colloquium attendees learn about exciting new research results, important government programs, and yet-to-be-released software products. Presenters have included Roger Tomlinson, Carl Steinitz, Waldo Tobler, Michael Goodchild, the late Hugh Calkins, Jim Geringer (former governor of Wyoming), and Karen Siderelis (the first federal Geographic Information Officer).
