Oracle announced as major supporter of 1Spatial Conference 2007

21st February 2007, Cambridge, UK. 1Spatial is delighted to announce Oracle as the major supporter of their inaugural Conference: ‘Fit For Purpose’ (2-3rd May at Ordnance Survey Business Centre, Southampton, UK).
1Spatial’s recent confirmation of Certified Partner Status with Oracle is testament to the growing close relationship between the two companies and affirms 1Spatial’s commitment to the Oracle technology stack.
Oracle’s support for the 1Spatial Conference ensures a mainstream IT focus at the event from the industry leader, and will allow delegates to learn first-hand how advances in such areas as Spatial Database Computing, Grid Computing and Service Orientated Architectures can aid in the sharing of spatial data and the creation of effective Spatial Data Infrastructures.
David Pearson, Vice-President - Oracle Architecture, will provide a leading keynote at the event on ‘IT architectures for Spatial Data Infrastructures’. In addition technical workshops are planned to provide more detail on these exciting topics.
The 1Spatial Conference will create a forum for the discussion of the integration of spatial data in enterprise IT architectures and the creation of Spatial Data Infrastructures. It will be a global platform, an industry-leading event and the first of its kind. The conference allies spatial data processing with mainstream IT issues for the first time in a conference event. The timing is important as Europe in particular embark though initiatives such as INSPIRE and strive to expand the use and sharing of spatial data from legacy GIS into open, accessible spatial data infrastructures. The world at large also demands even greater access to mapping across the worldwide web.
