UNIGIS in North America - Malaspina University-College The UNIGIS program - a worldwide network of educational institutions which offers distance learning courses in GIS - is now being delivered at Malaspina University-College. This is a reputable, on-line, non-credit Post Graduate Certificate in Theoretical and Applied GIS and provides comprehensive education and training in GIS. This program utilizes popular GIS software, with emphasis on spatial analysis, real-world applications and cartography. Malaspina is one of 2 Institutions in North America offering the UNIGIS program.

CERFArcGIS Training with field biologists - Early in March 06, the Coastal Ecosystems Research Foundation hosted this immersion week in geospatial sciences and marine biology in San Ignacio Lagoon, Mexico. The workshop includes 2 days of instructor led training covering an "Introduction to ArcGIS 9", using ESRI training materials and taught by an ESRI authorized instructor. The course also includes data collection in the lagoon and the opportunity to learn how to use some of the tools used by marine mammal scientists. More opportunities like this are available later this year.

Sir Sanford Fleming College - Post-Graduate Education and Training in GIS - Sir Sanford Fleming College... aka Fleming College has several programs focused on training GIS professionals. Commencing in January 2006, the College is offering the following programs: Geographic Information Systems - Applications Specialist; Geographic Information Systems - Cartographic Specialist; Geomatics Technician. The programs are designed to train students using state-of-the-art technologies including software from ESRI, Autodesk, PCI Geomatics, and CARIS.

Graduate Certificate in GIS (for Educators) Eastern Michigan University - This past fall, a new GIS for Educators online graduate certificate program was added to the schedule at the Geography Dept., Eastern Michigan University . The program has been written for K–12 teachers specifically with a focus on what teachers need to know in GIS.  The certificate addresses classroom concerns and implementation of GIS and adapts teaching methods to include GIS into K–12 classroom curriculums

MYCOEGeographic Learning Promoted by AAG - My Community, Our Earth - The My Community, Our Earth Project: Geographic Learning for Sustainable Development (MyCOE) project is a partnership to encourage youth to use geographic tools and concepts to address local issues of sustainability. You may have heard about the project at an ESRI User Conference and the projects are also promoted via GISday.com
