ALRIS, managed by the Administration and Resource Analysis Division of the Arizona State Land Department was established back in 1982. Since its initiation, the ALRIS program has provided a wide variety of support services for Arizona's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) community.
The Alaska State Geospatial Data Clearinghouse (ASGDC) Posted on September 24, 2004 The ASGDC provides the mechanism enabling the public to access a wide variety of information in the form of maps, images, and descriptions about Alaska geo-spatial data. The site is a node of the NSDI and is hosted by the DNR. Data are available via download or on CD-ROM.
Geological Survey of Alabama Posted on September 23, 2004 The Geological Survey of Alabama, established in 1848, provides service and information to Alabama and its citizens as a natural resource data gathering and research agency. The GSA has developed and maintains a National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) Isite Node of the National Geospatial Data Clearinghouse making Alabama data products available.
UNEP GEO Data Portal Posted on September 22, 2004 The GEO Data Portal is the authoritative source for data sets used by UNEP and its partners in the Global Environment Outlook (GEO) report and other integrated environment assessments. The online database of statistics and spatial data hold information on more than 400 variables.

Global Landcover Classification Data 2000 Available Posted on July 21, 2004 The Global Vegetation Monitoring Unit (GVM) unit of the JRC has produced a new global landcover classification for the year 2000 (GLC2000), in collaboration with over 30 research teams from around the world. The project was carried out to provide accurate baseline landcover information to the International Conventions on Climate Change, the Convention to Combat Desertification, the Ramsar Convention and the Kyoto Protocol. These data are freely available for download by registered users.
National Land Cover Characterization Posted on July 20, 2004 The National Land Cover Characterization 2001 (NLCD 2001) database is being compiled across all 50 states and Puerto Rico as a cooperative mapping effort of the MRLC 2001 Consortium. This land cover database is being created using mapping zones and contains standardized land cover components useful for a variety of applications.
