Coming Soon: European maps completely updated Posted on December 15, 2004 All digital maps are updated annually by GfK MACON's cartographers. In doing so the largest digital archive of postal and administrative maps worldwide [according to GfK MACON] is systematically extended. A number of new data products are now, or will soon be available including updated postal areas for several countries, and a new map of Taiwan... there's even a Christmas bonus offer available.
Shuttle Radar Topography Mission - 30 & 90 meter DEMs Posted on December 13, 2004 Virtually all of the land surface between +/- 60 degrees latitude was mapped by SRTM. Processing of the C-band data took two years. During this time, JPL generated and released "showpiece" derived products (shaded relief, perspective views, anaglyphs, etc.) produced from preliminary DEMs. These data are now freely available via ftp download. SRTM DEMs for the United States are at 30-meter resolution. DEMs for the rest of the world will be at 90 meters.
GNIS State and Topical Gazetteer Download Posted on December 10, 2004 The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS), developed by the USGS in cooperation with the U.S. Board on Geographic Names (BGN), contains information for almost 2 million physical and cultural geographic features in the United States and its territories. The Federally recognized name of each feature described in the data base is identified, and references are made to a feature's location by State, county, and geographic coordinates.
Louisiana Geographic Information Center Posted on December 08, 2004 LAGIC was established by the Louisiana GIS Council (LGISC) and the Louisiana Office of E-Services to facilitate the distribution of geographic information, provide technical assistance, and support GIS data development among state, federal, and local government.
2005 Gazetteer of Australia Posted on December 07, 2004 A new version of the authoritative source of Australian place names will be available in early 2005. Gazetteer of Australia is a useful resource for any application that requires the names and location of Australian towns, natural features, built features and more.
GADDS (Geophysical Archive Data Delivery System) Posted on December 06, 2004 This system provides magnetic, radiometric, gravity and digital elevation data from Australian National, State and Territory Government geophysical data archives. Airborne geophysical datasets acquired by the Queensland and Victorian State governments are now available for free download from GADDS (Geophysical Archive Data Delivery System).
Kentucky Division of Geographic Information - DGI Posted on November 23, 2004 DGI is responsible for encouraging, coordinating, and implementing GIS programs within the Commonwealth of Kentucky. DGI works with both state and local government, and serves as a liaison to federal mapping agencies.
