Redlands, California-ESRI and its international distributors are providing support in response to the recent Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami disaster.
 

Ordnance Survey helps tsunami effort

Ordnance Survey is helping to support the reconstruction efforts in Sri Lanka after the recent tsunami disaster. Britain's national mapping agency has shipped eight highly specialist GPS receivers to map out the worst hit areas and collect information useful for rebuilding and construction work.
 

USGS Provides Satellite Data for Tsunami Disaster Relief Efforts

The U.S. Geological Survey continues to contribute to the tsunami disaster relief efforts by supplying before and after satellite images obtained through Landsat 7 and other image-derived products of the tsunami-affected coastlines. 
 

Atlas on tsunami damaged areas in Asia; Satellite images, maps assisting in responding to disaster

A new Tsunami Atlas using satellite images, topographic maps and geo-statistics has been developed by FAO. The atlas shows tsunami affected areas before and after the disaster. It helps experts to evaluate the damage and estimate rehabilitation needs of agricultural land, mangrove areas and coastal infrastructure. The current version covers Indonesia and Sri Lanka, other countries will be included soon

Redlands, California-In the aftermath of the Tsunami disaster in Asia, volunteers from ESRI (Thailand) Co. Ltd. went to the Phangnga province in Thailand to assist search teams and analyze the damage with the use of global positioning system (GPS), geographic information system (GIS), and remote sensing technology.

NASA Details Earthquake Affects on the Earth; quake changed the Earth's shape and rotation

WASHINGTON, Jan. 10 - NASA scientists using data from the Indonesian earthquake calculated it affected Earth's rotation, decreased the length of day, slightly changed the planet's shape, and shifted the North Pole by centimeters. The earthquake that created the huge tsunami also changed the Earth's rotation.
