In 2006, the University of West Florida launched an innovative new 100% online program to bring a cutting-edge Geographic Information Science certificate to students around the world. Through an innovative virtual machine system, students are given remote access to industry-standard GIS and remote sensing software to use from their own computers. UWF is the first and only certificate program currently employing this technology to provide a mix of hands-on software training with conceptual instruction from highly qualified GIS professionals.
