Job Description
I.M Systems Group (IMSG) (www.imsg.com), a contractor to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Coastal Services Center (Center), seeks a talented developer to support the Center’s Coastal Information and Application Services (CIAS) Branch. Located in Charleston, South Carolina, the NOAA Coastal Services Center serves the nation’s coastal resource management community by facilitating access to and utilization of the most up-to-date information, management strategies, and technology. Duties
The ideal candidate will be an addition to our Development team and will be responsible for supporting Center projects within the Application Development Services (ADS) program. The ADS program works with other Center groups to design and create database, desktop, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and web applications to support members of the coastal management community.
Responsibilities
• Actively participate in the design, creation and implementation of applications in accordance with appropriate software development requirements
• Works within a team of programmers developing desktop, client-server, and web applications
• Analyzes problems and develops creative solutions with minimal guidance
• Collaborate with project staff and external project partners in making improvements and incorporating feedback for project applications
• Provide peer code review
Qualifications
Qualifications
Required:
• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Geography, or related field.
• Demonstrated experience with any of the following: Java, C/C++, .NET, Visual Basic. Java experience preferred.
• Experience with at least one scripting language such as JSP/JSTL, Perl, or ASP
• Experience in GIS integrated systems development preferred.
• Experience with ESRI ArcGIS, ArcIMS, ArcServer, ArcSDE preferred.
• Experience with relational databases (MS SQL Server) preferred.
• Ability to work independently and proactively to take initiative to solve complex problems.
