A Geographic Information Systems Specialist operates a GIS geo-processing system and performs technical geographic information system input, including spatial and attribute data editing, application design and programming system analysis, to produce a wide range of maps and reports, applications, and export data and files.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree from a recognized four-year college or university with a major in Geographic Information Systems, Engineering, Geography, Computer Science, or in a closely related field; and completion of at least 6 semester or 9 quarter units in geographic information systems; or
Two years of full-time paid experience utilizing ESRI's Legacy ArcInfo (Command line) or any level of the ArcGIS Product suite software, MapInfo, or other GIS software utilizing a Relational Data Base Management System (RDBMS); or
Current employment with the City of Los Angeles with at least two years of full-time paid experience utilizing geographic information systems software, which incorporates a Relational Data Base Management System (RDBMS).
In addition to the regular City application form each candidate is required to submit a Supplemental Information Form for Geographic Information Systems Specialist at the time of filing. Candidates who fail to submit both the application form and the Supplemental Information Form together will not be considered candidates in this examination and their application will not be processed.
