GIS Technician
Responsibilities
• Read and interpret legacy maps and engineering drawings of Company facilities.
• Draw or re-align pipelines appropriately in ArcMap software based on historical information.
• Understand and manipulate digital land base data in ArcMap environment (i.e. GPS points, aerial photography, parcel lines, street centerlines, etc.).
• Enter and manage data through database front-end and through raw tables.
• Create custom and standard map products for internal and external use as requested.
• Use ArcMap tools, wizards, and extensions to accomplish project objectives.
• Various other GIS or data management tasks as needed.
Qualifications
• Understanding of GIS concepts and principles.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting client and project objectives.
• Clearly and concisely communicate technical information and concepts with co-workers and management.
• Ability to follow established procedure, but recognize when data don’t make sense.
• Extreme attention to detail.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access.
Education:
• Bachelors Degree in Geography, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of school/work experience with ArcMap software.
• Previous utility or data management experience a plus.
