We are currently looking for a Traffic Data Specialist - #15695 in Chicago, IL.
Position Summary:
The main purpose of the Data Technician position is to support the implementation of processes in the development and creation of derivative datasets for use in conjunction with existing NAVTEQ products. This position will directly support the development and production manager/teams within the Map & Knowledge Based Data group. The Data Technician will support the development of prototype datasets, defining testing parameters to ensure output quality, and will support the development of production grade processes through their transition from prototype to commercial product.
Responsibilities may also include creating and maintaining commercial release of products according to the requirements of Product Management. The Data Technician will react to the needs and priorities of Product Management based on the change in business needs.
Responsibilities:
- Test value statement hypotheses for new datasets envisioned to provide entirely new types of functionality for location and time based applications.
- Execute processes to create prototype products based on procedures created by data analysts and managers.
- Develop & maintain production grade products by working with internal groups such as DMO and product management.
- Create, maintain, and expand, as necessary, geo-spatial referencing database components.
- Demonstrate basic competence of data manipulation and visualization skills. Implement geospatial technology into existing processes in order to utilize effective tools for task completion.
- Other development and maintenance projects as directed by managers.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- University degree, GIS degree/certification desired.
- A minimum of two years experience in a development environment utilizing commercial grade database management systems.
- Knowledge of GIS, SQL, Microsoft Excel, Access, and Project. Ability to run JAVA, Oracle, and XML based tools. Programming/scripting knowledge a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
